This colorful landscape painting shows Chief's Head Peak, Pagoda Mountain, Long's Peak and Mt. Meeker. I have always loved the time of day when the mountain peaks turn purple - "purple mountains majesty."  As a result, purple mountains sneak into my paintings on a regular basis.

I was drawn to this image as it captures the diverse terrain that is encountered hiking into the high country. This painting was created as a study for the Milarepa Buddha painting.
