Working on Art

Everything changed when I learned how to work. Today, I celebrate my teacher's teacher Swami Rudrananda, who shared rare, life-changing teachings on spiritual work as well as his love of Eastern art .

Through practicing these teachings, I have learned so much about going through with the work of life and the work of making art. The work of being me. In the past, I often tried too much to "work on myself,"  which usually involves focusing on shortcomings, tensions and limitations.

As Paul Reps said, "where attention goes energy flows." What we focus on grows.

With this in mind, I make time in each day for the things I wish to grow in my life: meditation, family, sangha, art, wellness. The work happens by daily practice of these things, when it's easy and when it takes effort.
